EMDR Therapy

Healing Trauma
accent heading
EMDR is a therapeutic technique devised by Dr. Francine Shapiro, involving bilateral stimulation through eye movements similar to what we experience during dreaming or REM sleep. EMDR ‘targets’ trauma or upsetting emotional events to allow their reprocessing from one area of your brain to another which results in little to no distress of a specific event or memory. The goal of EMDR is to change the way memories of traumatic events are stored in the brain, replacing the negative emotions associated with them with positive ones. EMDR has been highly successful therapy and is often used by firefighters, law enforcement personnel, and paramedics after critical incidents.
