Sandy is a Student Counsellor at Hundal Counselling Centre and is completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of Victoria and brings more than 20 years of experience in the social service sector.

Her extensive professional background includes experience in health care, community development, media, and government services. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive and trauma-informed counselling that recognizes the importance of each client’s culture, values, identity, and lived experiences.

Sandy supports individuals navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, emotional challenges, relationship and family concerns, self-esteem, personal growth, and cultural identity concerns. She strives to create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental counselling environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Her counselling approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and strength-based. Sandy draws from evidence-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Person-Centred Therapy, adapting counselling to each client’s individual needs, strengths, and therapeutic goals.

Sandy also incorporates mindfulness and meditation to support emotional regulation, self-awareness, stress management, and overall well-being. She believes clients are the experts in their own lives and works collaboratively with them to recognize their strengths, develop practical coping strategies, and move toward meaningful change.

As a Student Counsellor, Sandy provides affordable, low-cost counselling through Hundal Counselling Centre while completing her graduate clinical training under supervision. She welcomes clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and is committed to making supportive mental health services more accessible.

Sandy is accepting new clients for in person in Surrey and virtually across BC.
