Harleen holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Systems from the University of British Columbia (UBC). Her background in cognitive science, clinical practice, and community-based work informs her integrative, evidence-informed approach to counselling.
Harleen supports clients experiencing anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, interpersonal and family challenges, life transitions, and cultural identity concerns. She works collaboratively with clients to understand how thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, and past experiences may be contributing to their current challenges.
Harleen recognizes the important role that family, culture, identity, and lived experiences can play in mental health. As a Punjabi-speaking counsellor in Abbotsford, she provides a supportive space for clients to explore cultural and family dynamics while honouring their individual values and identities.
Her therapeutic approach draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and incorporates Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) strategies, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. She also integrates client-centred and other evidence-informed approaches based on each client’s individual needs, strengths, and goals.
Harleen is committed to creating a counselling environment grounded in empathy, respect, collaboration, and psychological safety. Her goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, build on existing strengths, and work toward meaningful and sustainable change.
Harleen is accepting new clients for in-person appointments available at Hundal Counselling Centre Abbotsford and virtual counselling options across BC.
